Canadian conservatives, united and strong

I felt like I needed to start a thread to try to express the overwhelming sense of support that Mark and I have experienced over the past 24 hours.

Sometimes we all get caught up in our own issues and we forget how many allies we have beside us. Since this CHRC problem came to light, Mark and I have been flooded with emails and phonecalls of support from many quarters.

We couldn't possibly list all of the individuals who have contacted us, but we would like to take this opportunity to mention organizations who have made the effort to send us encouragement, or write about this issue.

If I miss any, PLEASE PM me so that I can add you. This is so inspiring, I want to share it with everyone.

I hope you haven't been invited on the honeymoon because if so, we're ALL going.

While I think the delay in faxing the claim to you is a sign they are frantically rewriting it in a backroom somewhere, I want to encourage you to turn this into the issue that takes down the Star Chambers once and for all.

They are a Foreign Occupier of a Free Dominion, and that is unacceptable to this 4th gen Canadian.

Work it, work it good. Hire a legal strategist if you must. Everyone will support you.

Just want to add my voice to the quiet roar of outrage (note: not hurt feelings) to offer help in any way possible.

The pages and pages of discussion on FD and the postings on conservative blogs are completely understandable, because everyone here with even a modicum of intelligence is aware of the CHRC's track record and is concerned this will turn into a complete travesty and a defeat for common sense and free speech. This reaction says more about the perception of the CHRC than about the credibility of any complaint against FD. Will this be the end of guilty until proven innocent? Could it be the CHRC is about to go on trial?

Somebody made the comment there seemed to be a lot of trolls on FD lately. I originally just thought it was because school, college, and university are out for summer and the kids and teachers were already bored. Now it looks like somebody went fishing and caught something they thought could be used to shut down FD and attack its gracious hosts.

I'm speculating, but it would be interesting if the complainant turned out to be a recently registered user or a longer term member who only posted around the time of the 'offense,' taking the time to plan and make the effort to be offended. Therefore, is deliberately causing self-inflicted hurt feelings a legitimate cause for complaint?

This site declares at the top of every page that it is the voice of principled conservatism. Why expect the doctrine of the hive mind of socialism when it's a forum for conservative-minded people to discuss issues and concerns, and for those who like to present an opposing view. How can you be offended by the concerns, thoughts, and words of ordinary people, and why would you want to silence them, unless you are afraid of them?

The complaint, whatever its actual wording is, may turn out to be frivolous, but like it or not the CHRC still have to investigate. Unfortunately, it costs the complainant nothing and the onus is on the defenders to prove themselves innocent...and pay costs for the privilege. Who knows, at the end of the day it all may come to nothing, but in the meantime I still demand the right to resent this travesty on behalf of Connie while it still hangs over her head, and for all the unnecessary anguish and trouble it causes her and Mark.

This isn't only an attack against Connie and her website. This is an attack on you and me - those registered users and lurkers who endorse principled conservatism, free speech, and open debate, who come here to share information and to learn, and to be reassured that common sense and personal freedoms haven't been completely crushed under the jackboot of political correctness.

However, I can't help but feel a sense of pride in the way it's unifying people here. A crisis brings out the best in the best people. One day it will be reported some troll attacked the conservative voice in Canada, ended up catching a shark, and the CHRC jumped it.

This is a good point, the CHRC has made its own reputation.

I am not at all surprised by the overwhelming support and how quickly word has gotten out.

If Conservatives know one thing it's, you don't screw over my family. We rally.

What ever you need just say the word.
