Attn: Programs Officer,
House of Parliament

Dear [Sir],

Re: Ottawa Freedom & Liberty Demonstrations

On the first of January 2003 several of our CUFOA members and supporters will be in Ottawa to demonstrate for the preservation of our freedoms and liberties which are being violated and destroyed by the implementation of the Firearms Act (Bill C-68 ).

We plan to hold a least three demonstrations on Parliament Hill, one each day Wednesday 01Jan03, Thursday 02Jan03, and Friday 03Jan03 (a copy of our itinerary is enclosed).

I understand that you are the contact person with whom I am to coordinate our activities. I have included below the information which I understand you desire.

Looking forward to meeting you on New Year's Day.

Sincerely,

I can't burn a registration card because I will never register any guns with the feds. But I'll be there to join in civil disobedience.

I think this would be a very worthwhile thing for FD to do. Anyone have any ideas how we, as a group, could help with this?

Of course we can help simply by showing up with our stickers, banners and bumperstickers.

Speaking of bumperstickers, Connie, are the "Repeat offenders" stickers available yet? I've lot's of requests for those.

Thanks for the info, EdS!

How many "Repeat Offenders" bumperstickers do you need? I'll get some printed for you this week.

Demonstrations in Ottawa on New Year's Day
January 1-3, 2003
Our plans continue to progress.

We plan three days of demonstrations, Wednesday 01 Jan03, Thursday 02Jan03, and Friday 03Jan03.

On New Year's Day we will post our Declaration of Noncompliance on the doors of Parliament at noon. Then at 1 p.m. we will burn our firearms licenses at the Eternal Flame, and then later that afternoon we will attend the Governor General's levee at Rideau Hall. So far we have not as yet been invited to attend, but I am working on that item.

On Thursday 02Jan03 at noon we will visit the house we provide for our Prime Minister at 24 Sussex Drive and present him the ashes from our firearms licenses and registration certificates.

If we are still free on Friday 03Jan03 we will visit the offices of Minister of Justice and the Attorney General and burn what “paper” we have remaining. We will also conduct a public “Receive Swap” of unregistered firearms receivers.

If we are ignored as everyone predicts, we will establish that the Firearms Act is null and void in our nation's capitol.

If we get arrested, we will postpone our subsequent events until we are released the next day.

Looking forward to the new year and renewed freedom and liberty.

Sincerely,

Eduardo

Hmmm.... The use of swaztikas and other similar nazi symbols is always a problem - it becomes hyperbole. Their overuse tends to make the protester look hysterical, and it can backfire when the Liberal elites start acting indignant and offended, and accuse the protesters of "slander".

Besides - you know the old debaters rule: the first side to use "nazi" accusations loses the debate.

Instead, I'd suggest using swaztikas as point bullets to highlight similarities between specific gun regulations and any nazi laws. That would be very effective, without being hyperbolic.
