Halton Conservative Association Youth Committee Unanimously Supports D’Arcy Keene
The Youth committee of the Halton Conservative Association which represents the members who are 26 and under has stated that they support the nomination of D’Arcy Keene as the Conservative candidate for Halton in the next Federal Election. An emergency meeting was held to ensure unity amongst the youth of the association, and a resolution to support the nomination of D’Arcy Keene over Garth Turner was passed unanimously.
“It’s time for a change,” said committee chair Mark Johnson, who attended Notre Dame High School in Burlington and is currently a Political Science student at the University of Ottawa, “Mr Turner campaigned for the candidacy last year on a certain platform of promises, and these promises have been broken.”
Many people, both the general public and those within the Conservative Party, have lost confidence in Mr Turner to continue to be a quality representative of his constituents in Halton. “Bigoted comments that Mr Turner has made such as ‘Call it Defend Marriage Canada, Call it the Taliban, Fleurs Du Mal (Flowers of Evil)’ show his clear unsuitability to be a member of the modern, inclusive party that is the Conservative Party of Canada, which is why he is and will continue to be an ineffective Member of Parliament for the taxpaying constituents of Halton” said Johnson.
The rules of engagement for this nomination process are as follows: Firstly, challengers have until this coming Sunday August 20th to announce their candidacy. This is the same date by which new members must be registered in order to vote in the nomination meeting. Secondly, the nomination meeting itself will be held on Monday September 11th at the Lion’s Hall, in Campbellville. The meeting will commence at 7:30 P.M.
Mr Turner has on several occasions shown contempt for Conservative officials, Conservative policy and ultimately the Conservative Party in general. The best way to sum it up is as Mark Johnson put it, “If he is that unhappy with our values he can choose to leave the party”.

I think Barf Turner is on his way out!
What will he do after losing the nomination - run as an independent? cross the floor? |

Wow, that's a surprise to me. Didn't think they would be so astute. Congratulations to the youth, you're the future. _________________ Opinions posted on Free Dominion are those of the individual posters and are not necessarily the opinion of Free Dominion or its operators. also, for the record, since Garth is stating on his blog that there are 2 members on the youth committee, he is sorely mistaken.
there are 2 directors on the youth committee
There are approximately 10 members, membership varies on attendance _________________

So much for the idea that this is all about religious whackos hijacking the nomination. I just wish the Keene camp was a bit more clever about how it let others label it from the beginning. It gave Garth Turner the opening he needed.
However, having said that, I read Turner's latest blog post and he's sounding desperate. He's now trashing a process which he was joyous about only a few days ago. The man who champions democracy every chance he gets doesn't seem to like the taste of it when it means his position as Parliament Hill media hog is in jeopardy.
I think there's a chance that the Keene camp will be able to swamp the nomination meeting with more members than Turner can handle.
Then again, maybe Turner is yelling fire to keep everyone in his camp in fighting mode. We'll see. |

Turner is an embarassment and should go. However, it is a huge long shot that he will lose the nomination. His board is stacked with his boot lickers. They wanted the early nomination meeting way back at the beginning of the summer.
He's turned that EDA into the GPC, the Garth Party of Canada. Every anti-Harper in the country is rooting for this guy and donating money. D'arcy has a long way to go. |

I don't understand the comments from Red Tories suggesting that without him, that would be a seat back in Liberal hands. With a real conservative, the northern part of the riding - Milton, rural Burlington, rural Oakville - would go Conservative with about 55%. The Liberals would need to win the suburban areas with about 70% of the vote to take the riding back. Considering the neighboring Oakville riding - which is 100% urbanized - went Liberal by only a few hundred votes, that won't happen. |

The assumptions above are that the non-partisan voters will make the same choices come the next go round. |

| Yes, but James Moore sure turned out fine. I will just urge my fellow "tiny tories" to not follow the prevalent youth liberal thinking and follow your heart. |

"Ah yes, the Tiny Tories, nothing cooler then when the Tiny Tories do the bidding of head office."
Could be paraphrased as:
"Ah yes, the Tiny Tories, nothing cooler then when the National Caucus does the bidding of the PMO." |
