No sir, thank you for all you have done for those that have served and suffered.
Your determination and persistence has helped more than anyone will know or acknowledge.

You are one of a kind sir.

Army Thumbs Up
CRAP there is no navy thumbs up but that is as close as it gets.

You're a GOOD MAN, Roy.

Cool

You can't BELIEVE how relieved I am to be "rid" of this dilemma....working my ASS off on SHAD/112 while the majority of those who COULD lend a hand AND benefit at the same time wander around in circles....without a FREAKIN' CLUE what they're even looking for.

......sigh.

I hate to criticize folks "behind their backs"...but, I haven't seen a single ONE with any kind of "agenda" that will produce any RESULTS.

And, TANGIBLE results are ALL that "count" in this war.

Oh, yes...it IS a "war".....!!!

That's the only realistic way to look at it. If you "think" to yourself and others that it's some kind of "game"....you are going LOSE...big time....EVERY time.

d'oh!

I have NO idea who the others are who may have been "successful" in this SHAD/112 - VA - DoD milieu, but I'm pretty sure that at least one of the other guys who was approved "100%" is ALSO now dead.

So, the REAL tally is "who gets treated/compensated" and who DOESN'T.

So far it's 28 Veterans who HAVE gotten "something" for their efforts, suffering, and honesty.....and about 9,972 who have NOT....!!!

That's some pretty shitty odds.

There are those who I KNOW were "banking on" a class-action lawsuit to "set things straight"...unfortunately, NONE of the guys DIRECTLY involved would even LISTEN to me.....and they "jumped the gun" in my estimation.

Now, about the ONLY recourse on THAT one is to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Not bloody likely.

I was very RELUCTANT to reveal I had been adjudicated at 100% because of the jealousy and other recriminations I will now have to face.

I made it pretty DIFFICULT for that to happen....more or less "dropped from sight"....or at least ducked behind the sand bags and am crawling for all I'm worth in an undisclosed direction....waiting for DARK to really "get lost".

Cheesy

I'm pretty EXPERIENCED at being reclusive.

DAMN few people have ANY concept of my daily wanderings.

I "suppose" if the FEDS wanted to find me, they could....and WOULD HAVE by now.

I can't even offer an explanation for that little stroke of luck...except that my original presumption may be correct...and that is to say that it would simply be too OBVIOUS if I were to suddenly "fall ill" now.

Razz

NO, I figure this is nothing more than a WAR of attrition.

Every day, there's fewer of us to contend with.

~~~~~
ON a brighter note....
I actually found myself feeling LIGHT HEARTED for a change, with the knowledge that I've set the weight down I have carried for the last FIVE YEARS, pretty much non-stop.
I'm just wondering WHAT I'll do with all that "free time" now that I've given myself an opportunity to ENJOY what I've fought so hard for and....
WON....!!!
Very Happy
....crap...!!!!
I HATE IT when you're right.
Razz
I just got off the phone with the "War Related Injuries Center" in East Orange, N.J.
It looks like I'm inching my way every nearer a two-day visit with them to be 'EVALUATED'.
.......sigh
Rolling Eyes
It turns out they're the ONLY VA facility in the country that comes close to having the "specialists" that I NEED to determine what part of my symptoms and maladies are from being exposed in the Granny and if there is ANYTHING they can "recommend" I do as far as further medical checks, seeing specialists, etc. and, if there is ANY possibility that there are treatments out there which 'might' benefit my physical being.
Confused
I don't have my "hope up" very high on this one. It's a matter of "jumping through medical hoops" once MORE...... d'oh!
Oh, well....no one can claim I'm "not trying".
In fact, several people have noted that I can be VERY TRYING.
Cheesy
Later today, I have to make an "appearance" as a loyal veteran and supporter of Senator Burns down at Depot Park.
I will probably get my photo in the paper....again.....and be asked to make some "pithy comment" about the Senator's re-election bid.
Hmmm......pithy comment.....???
Think
Heck, I PRIDE my thelf for being full of pith and vinegar.....!!!!
....a note from the staff of Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the House:
Mr. Stone,
Sorry it took me so long to respond to your email. I've been on the road and just got back into DC. Thank you for sending me this article, I will be sure to pass it on. As for the hat, I gave that to the Speaker - he really appreciated it!
Thanks again for passing on the article. It was great to meet you and we'll hope to see you again the next time we are in your area.
Subject: Thank you for coming to Whitefish, Mr. Speaker...!!!
Jeff:
I gave you the hat & message at the Denny Rehberg fund raiser in Whitefish. I appreciate the opportunity to speak briefly with the Speaker and I was very touched to hear his remembrances of 9-11.
Here is a piece that I composed in the following week, based on my reflections that day. It was published in the Whitefish Pilot and various other media:
Everyday Heroes
A Nation is Plunged into War
An old Chinese curse says, “May you live in interesting times!” On September 11, 2001 we were plunged into chaos as a nation of 300 million citizens was paralyzed with fear and confusion by fewer than 20 madmen. Since then we’ve tried to absorb it all each in our own way. On the way We, The People have shown our true colors and once more we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the heroes in our midst. I am proud to be an American!
From the instant the first hijacker held a knife to the throat of a stewardess, the valiant among us sprang into action. None sought glory. We are engrossed in the enormity of the evil we confront, but it does not prevent our overcoming adversity. We are a good people and this is indeed the home of the brave!
Moment by moment our everyday heroes show their selfless mettle. There is no way to list all the individual acts of heroism performed in the last few days. Most of them will go unrecorded because our everyday heroes perform their heroic deeds out of a sense of urgency and duty to their fellow man, not to garner fame.
DUTY
America’s history is replete with stories of exceptional bravery and valor during times of adversity. We can recite many of them. However, the most touching and memorable scenes ingrained in my memory since September 11th are the acts my countrymen offer up simply because they feel they must. People helping others out of a sense of duty without questioning for an instant whether they could or should do what they knew they had to.
Not knowing whether they themselves would live or die our everyday American heroes evacuated the twin towers of the World Trade Center without panic. All who survived the impacts on the upper floors can recount many acts of selfless valor by strangers suddenly engulfed in truly terrifying circumstances.
A few stories stand out as the news clips and quotes fly by and we learn how our countrymen respond in times of immense chaos, confusion and danger. From the beginning, anyone within earshot helped whoever they could find an escape route. Many infirm and handicapped were carried down seemingly impossible passages through the dark and debris by total strangers. Everyone instinctively stepped aside to let the blind go before them and to allow fire and rescue workers pass upwards. There was no need of commands to retain order. Our people simply know how to survive. We do it together here in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
HONOR
We know now that the terrorists timed the crashes to lure as many firemen and policemen as possible to their death. Hundreds are still missing and most will never return to their homes and families. While this act underlines the despicable mindset of those who would see us fall, it also proves that even foreign madmen understand the value of American grit, determination and courage.
Our public servants are called upon daily to protect and rescue us. Not one of them questions whom they might save. We will never know the names of all those who acted valiantly in New York, Washington, and in the air last Tuesday. However, the uniforms of our police, firemen and EMT’s allow us to identify those we presume will rise above the moment 24 hours a day in every city in the land. We cannot thank them enough for being the exceptional Americans we expect them to be.
They bear an extra weight these days because of their fallen brethren. Those who work locally are equally brave and determined to keep this country great and to assure your personal safety. Show them your gratitude.
COUNTRY
I’ve been told recently that my unabashed patriotism is corny. I cannot usually make it through the public singing of a patriotic song without tears. I love the symbols of our Freedom and feel we often do not show them adequate respect. Our National Anthem is treated as an inconvenience at sporting events. High school kids are prevented from performing it at National Monuments by Parks Police. Where has our pride in being Americans gone?
It instantly returned when we came under fire from outside forces. The nationwide flag shortage indicates that we haven’t lost our focus completely. Please join me in celebrating our Unity. Don’t wait for some personal tragedy to drive home the point that united we stand and divide we fall. You too may become an everyday hero.
"Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn." -- Gen. Douglas MacArthur
Fly Old Glory proudly every day. You stand among heroes. Together we shall prevail!
~~~~~~

PS: At the time of 9-11, I was working for Bee Broadcasting - a local broadcaster, and I was called in to record and re-broadcast sound bites and news clips for about 12 hours that day. It wasn't until 2:00, A.M. the next morning that I got to go to a friend's house and watch the cable coverage.

The words of the "man on the street" interviews, the panic in the voices, the horror unfolding, the immensity of it all, and the images of those towers collapsing will FOREVER be engraved into my memory. Mr. Hastert's accounting of the spontaneous singing of "God Bless America" on the Capitol steps is a worthy antidote.

Who ended up with the hat?

Respectful rally
Posted: Wednesday, Sep 06, 2006 - 12:19:57 pm PDT

I would like to respond to J. B. Stone's comments regarding the recent successful peace rally held in Whitefish to mark Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to town for a fund-raiser for Conrad Burns (at considerable taxpayer expense).

The reported number of supporters for the rally varies, but by most accounts there appears to have been approximately 200 people, with 160 at Mountain Trails Park and along Wisconsin Avenue, and an additional 40 stuck across the viaduct.

These people came from Whitefish and surrounding communities, inspired by their own free will to peacefully demonstrate and voice their opposition to a failed administration and its policies. There were moms with their children, seniors, young adults from middle school and the high school, some folks from Kalispell on their lunch break, some that many would recognize as respected members of our community, a few local politicians, and yes, a few hippies.

I would characterize those in attendance as concerned members of our community, not the lunatic fringe as Mr. Stone refers to them. This was not a political stunt of the Democratic Party, as he would like us to believe. It was a collaboration of Veterans for Peace, People for Peace, the Flathead Democratic Central Committee and concerned citizens.

*
We gathered at this event to express our dissatisfaction with the present administration, which by many accounts has not only deceived us and manipulated the pretext for going to war, but also grossly underestimated the consequences of war over diplomacy.

Since March 19, 2003, the day the U.S. invaded Iraq, there have been 2,653 American casualties in Iraq and 19,323 wounded, based on information from www.veteransforpeace.org. Approximately 41,639 estimated Iraq civilians have died, according to www.Iraqbodycount.org.

The Congressional Research Service reports that the war in Iraq war has cost U.S. taxpayers $318.5 billion as of June 2006. The day that a peaceful gathering in a public park, with all the proper permits, becomes somehow shameful is a sad day for America.

Theodore Roosevelt said, "To announce that there be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

The people who attended the peace rally had a right to be heard, as they were part of a meaningful event which represents a much larger voice in America.

Joan Vetter Ehrenberg

Whitefish

I LOVE these clowns....gives me an opportunity for a rebuttal....

~~~~~
I’m hoping Joan Vetter Ehrenberg can get her story straight soon. From the start, she has made conflicting public statements regarding the scope, intent, and content of the political protest gathering she helped organize with “People for Peace” and “Veterans for Peace”, along with blessings from the “Flathead Democratic Central Committee”. She called them, “collaborators”. Kind readers, there is a rich history of political groups which proudly proclaim themselves “collaborators”. I find this rather odd for an event she simultaneously attempts to typify as a spontaneous gathering, “inspired by their own free will to peacefully demonstrate and voice their opposition to a failed administration and its policies.”
One of the collaborating entities is “Veterans for Peace” and a local “minister” brought a sign bearing a direct knockoff of a Cindy Sheehan slogan. If the good minister and Joan had delved even superficially into the connections between the two, there would be no doubt that I was being kind in referring to these groups inherent hatred for America. Please go to: www.veteransforpeace.org/convention05/sheehan_transcript.htm , where you will find a transcript of Sheehan’s 2005 speech to their national convention. I challenge the good minister to take her “what noble cause” sign to Church next Sunday and read Cindy’s speech in full and explain to the congregation her deep and moving admiration for this vulgar lunatic! VFP’s website also proudly proclaims, “Veterans For Peace is an official Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) represented at the UN.” There is no requirement whatsoever to be a veteran to join the organization.
In addition, VFP is joined at the hip with a radical outfit called “Code Pink”. Both groups regularly participate in lurid demonstrations outside Walter Reed military hospital in Washington, D.C. that are specifically designed to harass, denigrate, and demoralize severely injured REAL veterans from the War on Terror fronts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a 100% Disabled Veteran, I can’t imagine a lower classification of walking scum.
Even though Joan insisted to the Missoula Independent, “It was really a peace rally, it wasn’t a political rally,” Rep. Mike Jopek, [HD 5 – D], Rep. Brady Wiseman, [HD65 – D], Edd Blackler, Democratic candidate for HD9, and local campaign workers for the state Democratic Party, “worked the crowd.” After the official motorcade passed by, “Jopek, Wiseman and other protesters took the opportunity to address the lingering audience with a PA system that Ehrenberg had set up.”
Rather than bore the crowd with a plea for peace, Jopek expounded on gas prices, which coincidentally mirrored an almost identical speech given by Tester the same day in Great Falls. I guess Joan should have checked with Tester spokesperson Matt McKenna who stated, “The opportunity for the Republicans to raise money was an opportunity for us to talk about the rising cost of gas.”
Finally, Joan touts suspect “death statistics” from the aforementioned VFP website and www.Iraqbodycount.org . A brief inspection of the body count site shows “estimates of Civilians reported killed by military intervention in Iraq,” but in fact the scrolling compendium is almost exclusively civilian on civilian caused deaths or insurgent attack body counts from Iraqi newspapers and morgue reports.
Ehrenberg evidently banks on the public’s naivete and gullibility. I have to break the spell when I see such bald faced lies in print. I attended both the Vice President’s and the Denny Hastert’s speeches. I was there to hand deliver messages urging their support of legislation co-sponsored by Montana Representative at Large, Denny Rehberg. HR 4259, “The Veterans Right to Know Act”, encompasses provisions for Veterans afflicted by Project SHAD/112, ionizing radiation, and Agent Orange. [more information is available at www1.va.gov/SHAD]
...and ANOTHER that had me literally laughing out loud in Friday's Daily Inter Lake:
[normally, I wouldn't do these schmucks the courtesy of retyping, but this is truly a 'CLASSIC'.... Laughing ]
Quote:
I'm glad to admit that I was one of the "lunatic fringe" [J.B. Stone's classification] at the peace rally when vice-president Cheney was in Whitefish to help raise money for Sen. Burns' re-election. First let me say that it isn't easy to express myself as I am strapped into my bed [to control my lunatic impulses] while I dictate this note to my wife. I just have two main points for J.B. and his like-minded friends:
One: How sane is it to blindly support Burns for re-election? Burns recently made rude comments to the firefighters who had just finished risking their lives fighting Montana fires, and he has taken more money from Jack Abramoff, a convicted felon, than any other senator or representative. Lunatic though I am, it seems to me this should give any thinking person an idea of Burns' incompetence in representing our interests.
Two: How sane is it to blindly support our "Mission Accomplished!" war in Iraq? We have tossed nearly a trillion dollars into that sink hole; created an even bigger cause for the radical Islamist terrorists to rally around; lost over 2,600 of our brave men and women; and killed over 40,000 Iraqis!
Yes, the world and the USA is such a better and safer place now. Thanks George! Thanks Dick! Thanks J.B.!
"Honey, loosen my straps a bit so I can make room for J.B. and his "intelligence fringe."
Jim Lewis, Whitefish
[I SWEAR that is verbatim...!!!]
My response:
I must apologize to Jim Lewis for giving the impression that I would consider him a part of some Leftist political lunatic “fringe”. Based on his 9/8/06 letter, it’s clear he’s dead center.
Concerning the dismal and downward spiraling fiasco the USFS is exercising regarding “Fire Management Teams”, I’d say something nice…but, I’ll defer until they “manage” to put one out. As for accusations regarding campaign contributions by Jack Abramoff, other familiar names on that list are: Reid, Daschle, Gephardt, Murray, Dorgan, and Kennedy.
I fervently disagree that I’ve been “blinded” regarding the “Mission Accomplished!” banner that’s been repeatedly used by the misinformed to denigrate our Armed Forces. The banner in question was displayed on the superstructure of the USS Abraham Lincoln upon its triumphant return from the Afghanistan and Iraq War theaters. President Bush, as Commander in Chief, chose to personally thank our Navy personnel on the flight deck. The crew gleefully surrounded him as he stopped for many personal photos for the folks back home. As a Navy Veteran, it brought tears to my eyes to see the jubilant, richly deserved affair. In stark contrast, Bill Clinton did nothing whatsoever about the USS Cole Bombing in Yemen.
I can’t speak for Mr. Lewis, or any of those who profess to, “support the troops, not the war.” You might as well claim to support Oncologists, but not cancer surgery. I can, however, testify that I personally gathered thousands of signatures on 25 poster-sized letters of support and sent them to numerous outposts in the War on Terror, including the USS Abraham Lincoln. The “citizens” of Whitefish roundly criticized me as I stood on the corner doing so.
Mr. Lewis offered, “Honey, loosen my straps…so I can make room for J.B.” Having seen “Silence of the Lambs”, I’ll respectfully decline.
I can't WAIT until the "minister" reads THIS to her parishioners:
Quote:
http://www.militaryproject.org/article.asp?id=646
2005-08-08 David Swanson's diary, at Meetwithcindy.org
Cindy Sheehan:
It's so great to be here.
Last year when you guys had your convention in Boston, my son had only been dead a few months, and we were really honored because the Santa Barbara chapter took my daughter's poem A Nation Rocked to Sleep, (and they did it again this year), and I remember Michael Cervantes, he brought the booklet over to our house and showed it to us, and I never dreamed in a year I'd be standing here in front of you as one of the speakers at your convention, I never dreamed I'd be doing this at all, but isn't it weird what life hands you.
I never heard about Veterans for until, I can tell you the exact day I heard about VFP, it was May 4th, 2004, and my son had been dead exactly a month, and I was watching CNN, and something came on, it was a report on Arlington West in Santa Barbara, and we lived about 6 hours north of Santa Barbara, and it was the May 4th before Mother's Day, which was May 8th, and VFP was going to put it up on Sunday, every Sunday, so I called my husband and I said, "There's only one place I want to be on Mother's Day this year, I want to be at Santa Barbara. I want to go and see Arlington West."
When we went, the first time we went, there was a little over 700 crosses, now there's over 1,800 crosses.
And I'm glad to hear everybody else's words, because somebody's gotta stop those lying bastards. Somebody has to stop them.
I got an email yesterday - - If you guys heard I just had a story published that talks about - - it's called Where Do I Live?, it talks about an Iranian-American who got the shaft because a recruiter liked him, and the recruiter falsified his paperwork, so he ended up in prison.
He's been in prison since November without due process.
Another mother whose son was found dead in Iraq, they told her that he died from a drug overdose. Three months later, they got the toxicology report; no drugs. She was devastated, she said, "I know my son, he did not do drugs." She was told that her son's wife and his battle buddies said in a report that yes, her son abused drugs in Iraq. But when she got that report it said categorically that no, he did not abuse drugs. So how did her son die?
And then there's Kevin and Monica Benderman. Kevin did exactly the right thing and got 15 months in prison. Whereas like Dahr said, the war criminals in Washington, D.C., they don't even lose a night's sleep.
Then we have this lying bastard, George Bush, taking a 5-week vacation in a time of war. You know what? I'm never going to get to enjoy another vacation, because of him.
My vacation probably - -this is really sad because I have a really cute dress I was going to wear to the banquet tomorrow night, but I'm either gonna be in jail or in a tent in Crawford, waiting until that jerk comes out and tells me why my son died.
Anyway, I got an email, I kinda got off track, a man emailed me yesterday, I get contacted by all kinds of people with their stories, and he said Cindy, I read everything you write, I read it on LewRockwell.com, he said, "I get tears in my eyes, but today I cried real tears, and I screamed, because my dear sweet nineteen ear-old cousin was killed in Iraq."
And he said, "Cindy, why didn't I save him? Why didn't I knock him out, why didn't I take him to Canada?" and I wrote him back and I said, "You know what? We all think that."
I said to my son not to go. I said, you know it's wrong, you know you're going over there. You know your unit might have to kill innocent people, you know you might die. And he says, "My buddies are going, I have to go." He said, "If I don't go someone's going to have to do my job, and my buddies will be in danger."
So what really gets me is these chickenhawks, who sent our kids to die, without ever serving in a war themselves. They don't know what it's all about.
30 of our bravest young men have already died this month, and it's only the 5th of August. And the tragedy of the marines in Ohio is awful.
But do you guys remember back in March when we were having our 2nd year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq which was pre-empted by Terry Schiavo, so that's all that was on the news, not 5,000 of us in Fayetteville, Wolf Blitzer said it was insignificant, but they put Terry Schiavo on, and I wrote something then called The Amazing Hypocrites and I asked why does she deserve life more than my son, and the Iraqi people? And more than the other people that this war has killed.
But do you think George Bush will interrupt his vacation and go visit the families of those 20 marines that have died in Ohio this week? No, because he doesn't care, he doesn't have a heart. That's not enough to stop his little playing cowboy' game in Crawford for 5 weeks.
So, as you can imagine, the grieving parents who lost - - lost, I don't like to use that word, whose child was murdered, it's extremely difficult, you can't even get a small scab on our wound, because every day it rips open. Every day, I don't know why I do it because I already know that war is ugly, I already know that war is hard. But I open up the DOD site to see, who became an angel, while I was sleeping.
And that rips my heart open, because I know there is another mother whose life is going to be ruined that day. So we can't even begin to heal.
So anyway that filth-spewer and warmonger, George Bush was speaking after the tragedy of the marines in Ohio, he said a couple things that outraged me.
Seriously outraged me.
And I know I don't look like I'm outraged, I'm always so calm and everything, that's because if I started hitting something, I wouldn't stop til it was dead. So I can't even start, cause I know how dangerous that would be, but George Bush was talking, and he never mentioned the terrible incident of those marines, but he did say, that the families of the ones who have been killed can rest assured that their loved ones died for a noble cause.
And, he also said, he says this often, and this really drives me crazy, he said that we have to stay in Iraq and complete the mission, to honor the sacrifices of the ones who have fallen.
And I say, why should I want one more mother to go through what I've gone through, because my son is dead. You know what, the only way he can honor my son's sacrifice is to bring the rest of the troops home. To make my son's death count for peace and love, and not war and hatred like he stands for.
I don't want him using my son's death or my family's sacrifice to continue the killing. I don't want him to exploit the honor of my son and others to continue the killing. They sent these honorable people to die, and are so dishonorable themselves.
So, as many of you have heard, and I didn't mean to cause any problems with the convention, but I was writing an email to everybody, and I was so mad, like I said, and I just had this brainstorm, I'm going to Dallas, I don't know where Crawford is. I've been in Texas, Casey was stationed at Fort Hood. I drove from northern California to Fort Hood one time, it took like, 30 hours. And I thought, I could be driving for days to get from Dallas to Crawford!
But I don't care, I'm goin'. And I'm gonna tell them, "You get that evil maniac out here, cuz a Gold Star Mother, somebody who's blood is on his hands, has some questions for him."
And I'm gonna say, "OK, listen here, George. #1, you quit, and I demand, every time you get out there and say you're going to continue the killing in Iraq to honor the fallen heroes by continuing the mission; you say, except Casey Sheehan.'"
"And you say except for all the members of Goldstar Families for Peace' cuz we think not one drop of blood should be spilled in our families' names. You quit doing that. You don't have my permission."
And I'm gonna say, "And you tell me, what the noble cause is that my son died for." And if he even starts to say freedom and democracy' I'm gonna say, bullshit.
You tell me the truth. You tell me that my son died for oil. You tell me that my son died to make your friends rich. You tell me my son died to spread the cancer of Pax Americana, imperialism in the Middle East. You tell me that, you don't tell me my son died for freedom and democracy.'
Cuz, we're not freer. You're taking away our freedoms. The Iraqi people aren't freer, they're much worse off than before you meddled in their country.
You get America out of Iraq, you get Israel out of Palestine
(massive round of applause)
And if you think I won't say bullshit to the President, I say move on, cuz I'll say what's on my mind.
So, what's gonna happen? I started this, I thought it was gonna be just me and my sister driving to Crawford, but it kind of mushroomed and people from as far away as Dayton, Ohio are coming, to help us, to stand behind us, because I travel all over the country, I speak, I write, I get feedback on my writing, and just in the little over a year that I've been doing this, I've seen a major turnaround in this country.
People don't just want to hear it, they want to know, what can we do?
What can we do to get him out of power? And I'm gonna say the I' word. Impeach. And we have to have everybody impeached that lied to the American public, and that's the executive branch, and any people in congress, and we gotta go all the way down and we might have to go all the way down to the person who picks up the dogshit in Washington because
We can't let somebody rise to the top who will pardon these war criminals. Because they need to go to prison for what they've done in this world. We can't have a pardon. They need to pay for what they've done.
So anyway, I'm gonna go to Crawford tomorrow, and I'm gonna say I want to talk to him, and they say, he's not coming out, I'm gonna set up my tent there until he comes out to talk to me.
And I have the whole month of August off, just like him. It's just the way it worked out, I was supposed to go to England tomorrow to do some Downing Street things, but Conyers cancelled, so hey, I have a lot of free time on my hands, and I'm gonna stay until he comes out and talks to me. And if he quits his vacation and goes to D.C., I'll pull my tent up, I'll go to D.C., and put it on the White House lawn, and I'll be waiting for you guys when you get there September 24th.
Another thing that I'm doing is - - my son was killed in 2004, so I'm not paying my taxes for 2004. If I get a letter from the IRS, I'm gonna say, you know what, this war is illegal; this is why this war is illegal. This war is immoral; this is why this war is immoral. You killed my son for this. I don't owe you anything. And if I live to be a million, I won't owe you a penny.
And I want them to come after me, because unlike what you've been doing with the war resistance, I want to put this frickin' war on trial. And I want to say, "You give me my son, and I'll pay your taxes."
I live in Vacaville, come and get me if you can find me there and put me on trial, because like Camilo (Mejia), Camilo knew what was right. And he went to prison for that. And Henry David Thoreau he went to prison, he refused to pay his poll tax, and Emerson, I call them HT and RW, and RW came to visit HT and said what are you doing here, buddy? And HT said, why aren't you here? This is the only place for a moral person in an immoral world.
It's up to us, the people, to break immoral laws, and resist. As soon as the leaders of a country lie to you, they have no authority over you. These maniacs have no authority over us. And they might be able to put our bodies in prison, but they can't put our spirits in prison. And I know that Camilo came out a much stronger person, he's one of my heroes, it's great a row of heroes in front of me here.
And everyone gave such great testimony this evening, I have to wonder, why do we keep doing this to each other? Why do we let this continue time and time again, why do let it happen? And it's because our country, is so good at demonizing people, I still have relatives from WWII that still call Japanese people Japs'. And we demonize the Iraqi people, where, most of this country doesn't even think we're killing innocent people.
Because, "Oh Cindy, don't you remember what happened on September 11th?"
"Yeah, but, were any of those people in Iraq? And the people who flew those planes into the Trade Center, where they from Iraq?"
When I was growing up, it was Communists'. Now it's Terrorists'. So you always have to have somebody to fight and be afraid of, so the war machine can build more bombs, guns, and bullets and everything.
But I do see hope. I see hope in this country. 58% of the American public are with us. We're preaching to the choir, but the choir's not singing, if all of the 58% started singing, this war would end.
I got an email the other day and it said, "Cindy, if you didn't use so much profanity there's people on the fence' that get offended"
And you know what I said? "You know what? You know what, god-damn-it? How, in the world is anybody still sitting on that fence'?"
"If you fall on the side that is pro-George, and pro-war, you get your ass over to Iraq, and take the place of somebody who wants to come home. And if you fall on the side that is against this war and against George Bush, stand up and speak out."
But whatever side you fall on, quit being on the fence.
The opposite of good is not evil, it's apathy. And we have to get this country off their butts, and we have to get the choir singing.
We need to say, bring our troops home now.
We can't depend on the people in charge bringing our troops home.
Because you don't plan on bringing the troops home when you drop so much of the reconstruction money into building permanent bases.
I was hoping to come to the banquet tomorrow night, but unless George comes out and talks to me, I'll be camping at Crawford.
Thank you.
I'm figuring a definite decline in bake sale proceeds over the next few weeks.....right after the lynching.
TODAY'S LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Quote:
Eric Funk’s September 10th impassioned screed reassured us that there’s a dedicated fragment of society who will stop at nothing to make America safe…for Terrorists.
Eric’s an authority on many national security issues. On 7/14/04 he enthusiastically reported the results of his browbeating the Whitefish City Council and the passage of their referendum disregarding the Patriot Act, as “democracy in action - with Cris Coughlin, Tom Muri, Velvet Phillips-Sullivan and Mayor Andy Feury standing up for our rights.”
I can personally attest to Mr. Funk’s public speaking style. He railed on before me at Senator Burns’ Town Hall Meeting on Social Security. Eric evidently wasn’t quite finished delivering his fact-free diatribe. When I rose to take the Social Security Administration to task over commingling issues which work to the detriment of Disabled Veterans, Funk attempted to shout me down, leading an exceedingly rude chorus of disruptive jeers from his cadre.
Tracking down terror cells in America is serious business, Eric. You no doubt would agree with the statement, “To question your government is not unpatriotic -- to not question your government is unpatriotic.” However, consulting DailyKoolAid.com and MoveOn.org is insufficient “research” when it comes to National Security issues. I say this because that remark was made by Senator Chuck Hagel, the actual co-sponsor of S-2453, National Security Surveillance Act of 2006. [NOT Dick Cheney as you deceptively stated] Anyone interested in facts, rather than Funk’s irresponsible accusations should read the full wording and legal precedent: [http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c109:1:./temp/~c109GoHZfQ:e732:]
Mr. Funk, if you wish to apply your prodigious skills to exposing real, genuine, documented War Crimes, I suggest you delve into Project 112/SHAD, brainchild of JFK and Robert McNamara, which used over 10,000 U.S. Servicemen as test rats for Bio-Chemical Weapons: [http://www1.va.gov/SHAD/] and HR 4259, the Veterans Right to Know Act: [http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.R.4259.IH:]
Study: Gulf War syndrome doesn't exist
VA-funded report unable to find evidence of complex of symptoms
Updated: 2:03 p.m. MT Sept 12, 2006
WASHINGTON - There is no such thing as Gulf War syndrome, even though U.S. and foreign veterans of the war report more symptoms of illness than do soldiers who didn't serve there, a federally funded study concludes.
U.S. and foreign veterans of the Gulf War do suffer from an array of very real problems, according to the Veterans Administration-sponsored report released Tuesday.
Yet there is no one complex of symptoms to suggest those veterans — nearly 30 percent of all those who served — suffered or still suffer from a single identifiable syndrome.
"There's no unique pattern of symptoms. Every pattern identified in Gulf War veterans also seems to exist in other veterans, though it is important to note the symptom rate is higher, and it is a serious issue," said Dr. Lynn Goldman, of Johns Hopkins University, who headed the Institute of Medicine committee that prepared the report.
The VA contracted with the institute, part of the National Academy of Sciences, to review scientific studies and probe the issue at the direction of Congress.
Disability benefits at issue
Tuesday's report is the latest in the important series, which the VA will rely on to determine whether Gulf War veterans are eligible for special disability benefits if they are found to suffer from illnesses that can be linked to their service.
Veterans can now claim those benefits only by making an undiagnosed illness claim, said Steve Robinson, a Gulf War Army veteran and government relations director for Veterans for America.
"They keep saying it over and over, every year. We know that — we know that there is no single thing that made veterans sick. We know this thing is likely a combination of various exposures," Robinson said in pushing for new studies he hopes will find what ails tens of thousands of his fellow vets.
A member of the Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses, also chartered by Congress, called the report the "first step" in cataloging the studies done on veterans of the conflict.
"But the most prevalent problems in Gulf War veterans are the multisymptom illness/Gulf War syndrome-type problems that still affect a sizable proportion of those who served in the war. I am disappointed that the IOM report does little to analyze what these studies collectively tell us about the nature and causes of these conditions," said Lea Steele, a Kansas State University epidemiologist who is the committee's scientific director.
Soldiers who served in the Persian Gulf following the Iraqi invasion of neighboring Kuwait in August 1990 have reported symptoms that include fatigue, memory loss, muscle and joint pain, rashes and difficulty sleeping. But not all suffer from the same array of symptoms, which has complicated efforts to pinpoint their cause, according to the report.
Department of Veterans Affairs spokesman Phil Budahn said the VA would not comment until it had a chance to study the report. The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States also was reviewing the study.
Toxic exposures
Nearly 700,000 U.S. soldiers, along with troops from 34 other countries, took part in the Gulf War. Once in the region, those soldiers were exposed to a wide array of toxins and other potential health hazards, including smoke from hundreds of oil well fires, pesticides, depleted uranium ammunition and possibly the nerve agent sarin, released during the demolition of a munitions dump.
Inadequate screening of soldiers before deployment in the Gulf War, coupled with a lack of environmental monitoring during the conflict, have hindered efforts to determine whether exposure to those contaminants is linked to any illness, the report also notes.
For years, the government denied the mysterious illnesses were linked to the war. It now acknowledges that at least some were due to wartime service. The government is no longer pointing to stress as the likely reason, as some federally funded studies had suggested.
The new report did find evidence of an elevated risk of the rare nerve disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also called Lou Gehrig's disease, among Gulf War veterans. They also face an increased risk of anxiety disorders, depression and substance abuse, it said.
Heck, why would ANYONE get "upset" if they were only dying painfully from some undiagnosed set of maladies which deteriorate their mental and physical abilities to the extent they can't hold down even the most minimal of jobs and have to watch helplessly as their children starve, their marriages break up, their former "friends" desert them, and the country they swore to protect and defend walks off as if it were expected from the very start....being told all the while, "There's nothing wrong with you...It's all in your head....nothing detrimental happened...now, shut up and vote for ME...!!!"
Air Force chief: Test weapons on testy U.S. mobs
POSTED: 7:56 p.m. EDT, September 12, 2006
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday.
The object is basically public relations. Domestic use would make it easier to avoid questions from others about possible safety considerations, said Secretary Michael Wynne.
"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation," said Wynne. "(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press."
The Air Force has paid for research into nonlethal weapons, but he said the service is unlikely to spend more money on development until injury problems are reviewed by medical experts and resolved.
Nonlethal weapons generally can weaken people if they are hit with the beam. Some of the weapons can emit short, intense energy pulses that also can be effective in disabling some electronic devices.
Secretary Michael Wynne says nonlethal weapons should be tested on U.S. civilians before being used on the battlefield.
Good to know there's still a few people in the DOD who know how to utilize good stuff before the FUNDING runs out....!!!
Cosby comes to Newark in support of veterans
Actor and comedian Bill Cosby spoke at a rally in Newark this afternoon and urged the federal government to spend more money on healthcare for veterans.
Cosby, a Navy veteran, told a group of about 100 veterans that they had the power to be heard in Washington.
"You may be in a wheelchair, you may have lost fingers, but you are strong," Cosby said. "There is no reason to cut back on anything involving you...you didn't cut back when you were over there because you knew there'd be bullets coming from all over the place at you."
Cosby, who flew in from Los Angeles for the rally, said he's added veterans issues to the topics he wants to speak out about.
The group that organized the rally, Operation Firing For Effect, is trying to push Congress to appropriate more money for veterans' healthcare.
The number of veterans using the VA's health system has swollen to about 7.5 million, from about 4 million, over the past five years, causing long delays for some treatments.
According to VA statistics, as many as 30,000 veterans are on a waiting list for care in any given month. Many higher income veterans who aren't disabled have been barred from using the VA health system. And Congressional budget appropriators recently cut funding for a program for the research and treatment of head injuries suffered by troops in Iraq
Kalispell, MT
Hand Delivered
Mr. Karl Rove
Assistant to the President
Dear Mr. Rove:
Welcome to Kalispell. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of Senator Burns and the citizens of Montana. Congratulations on achieving your highly valuable and trusted position in the White House.
I applaud the President for standing up on Friday, demanding clarity from the Congress on their commitment to the War on Terror. There comes a time when playing at politics is not sufficient for the country’s needs.
In that light, I humbly request that you bring this matter to the attention of the President. From 1962 to 1974 there existed a program of Bio-Chemical Weapons development experiments involving over 10,000 U.S. Servicemen called Project 112/SHAD. Many of us have since passed away or contracted diseases of “unknown origin”. My own infant daughter lived only to the age of six days, due to genetic malfunctions I passed on to her in 1980.
I entered the U.S. Navy in 1967 in perfect health. Yet, within 10 months of leaving the USS Granville S. Hall [YAG-40] and Project SHAD, I was discharged for “physical disabilities”. To this day, the Department of Veterans Affairs contends that I must somehow prove my illnesses are “service connected”. This is virtually impossible in that the Department of Defense refuses to release the necessary data in the form of COMPLETE Service Medical Records and Service Personnel Records. The debilitating illnesses are quite enough without the added insult of this ongoing cover up by the VA and DoD.
I cannot begin to express the level of disappointment, outrage, and frustration waiting over 35 years for a simple straight answer can generate. To the best of my knowledge, there have been over 565 VA Disability Claims initiated by Project 112/SHAD Veterans. Only 28 such Veterans have received any kind of “approval” by the VA on a cross section of 39 ailments, according to a recent FOIA request I submitted through Congressman Denny Rehberg, MT. I began my first VA disability file in 1971. It was not until early this year that it was PARTIALLY adjudicated for the PTSD component. The remaining 28 physical items are “under consideration” at the Board of Veterans Appeals remand center in Washington, D.C.
The VA has contacted and notified barely half of the participants. The actions of the DoD and VA have not been sufficient, equitable, or even realistic in our regard. Please direct the attention of the pertinent parties to rectifying this circumstance.
The hard working staff members of both Senator Conrad Burns and Representative Denny Rehberg have been of incalculable assistance in seeing that these matters become de-classified and dealt with. I literally would not be alive to attend today if it were not for their diligent efforts.
There are most likely more pressing issues on your plate today and tomorrow and the next. I simply wish for you to realize that it was the lives of these men of whom I speak that were sacrificed to create some of the WMD’s that our Armed Forces are searching worldwide for in order to retrieve them from the hands of madmen. That is a sufficient burden for us to bear. All I ask in return is that our government stop spitting in our faces and treading on our souls as we reach out for assistance.
Sincerely,
J.B. Stone
Karl Rove to attend Burns fundraiser
By MATT GOURAS of the Associated Press
HELENA - Washington, D.C., political strategist and Bush administration insider Karl Rove is scheduled to attend a fundraiser for U.S. Sen. Conrad Burns this weekend, but the event will be closed to reporters and the public.
The Burns campaign said Rove is going to be in Bigfork on Saturday for a strategy session and reception following the Burns Classic Golf Tournament.
“Karl is coming out here to talk about the strategy it is going to take to win over the next 56 days, and to fire up the troops,” said campaign spokesman Jason Klindt.
Supporters can buy a ticket to the event for $50, Klindt said.
The decision was made to close the event to news coverage and the public because campaign strategy will be among the topics.
“Most football coaches don't allow reporters into their locker room at halftime - it doesn't make sense to telegraph our play book,” Klindt said.
Burns, caught in a tough race with Democratic challenger Jon Tester, has recently received visits and support from the likes of first lady Laura Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
Rove has been traveling around the country helping Republicans while he helps craft political strategy for the White House.
Rove has been an impressive fundraiser, reportedly bringing in more than $10 million this election cycle, just behind the president, first lady and vice president among Republican officials.
The decision was made to close the event to news coverage and the public because campaign strategy will be among the topics.
