Scott Reid stood up yesterday on the floor of the House on a point of privilege, and in no uncertain terms called Liberal MPs Mark Holland and Marlene Jennings thieves and liars.

Those boxes filled with Conservative papers? They were labelled, and the Liberals probably took them and hid them. They've probably been pouring over them for a year, probably hoping to find something that could be used to embarrass the Conservatives during an election. Or so Reid claims.

And he wants an apology from Holland, from Jennings, from Stephane Dion, and from former interim Liberal leader Bill Graham, since it is Reid's claim that the Liberals have been deliberately hiding these papers for a year.

What did the Speaker say? He didn't disagree. And he wants to hear from both Holland and Jennings before he decides to refer this to committee.

Ouch.

The sheer stupidity of the Liberals going and troting those boxes out in front of the press is really quite amazing.

What possible benifit did they think they'd get from announcing to the country:
"Hey, we're just reminding voters that the Liberal Party is still in the busines of stealing stuff."

Congratulations. You guys are a bunch of unethical creeps. But, then again, most Canadians aleady knew that.

They just can't help themselves can they? Those sticky fingers of theirs. Just goes to show they haven't changed, once liers and thieves, always liers and thieves. Mad Interesting, my husband calls Marlene Jennings witch. I call Mark Holland a slippery little snake.

Thieves and liars---yeah, that's about right. Not suprising the speaker didn't care. He's a Liberal.

Thanks for posting that Styky, but I'm surprised the Tories haven't taken a more aggressive stance on this issue. Whether those files were in boxes or still in cabinets, the Liberals knew to whom the files belonged and they knew that they had no right to conduct (a) an invasion of privacy and (b) unlawful retention of someone else's property. The CPC should file formal charges against Holland and the LPC for theft and should file a formal complaint with the Privacy Commissioner on behalf of the employees whose personnel files have likely been violated by this witch hunt.

Agreed. Let Holland explain before a judge the merits of stealing douments.

This could be the scalpel which will finally neuter the little s**t disturber. He may have pushed his luck just a bit too far this time. When you dance on a knife edge the consequences of a slip can be devastating.

Did Scott Reid say they stole the documents? This is getting more interesting by the day.
