The law allows for the police to use firearms. They are extensively trained and every time they do it there is an automatic investigation to make sure he/she had just cause. Which seems completely reasonable and diligent.
Also, I was under the impression the service revolvers use bullets that dont travel as far as a normal bullet would, to limit any damage to innocents.
